Caribbean Producer to Shoot New Film on Bob Marley’s Life in Antigua

The Caribbean film producer Rudy Langlais will shoot a film about the early life in music of the Jamaican Bob Marley, considered the greatest exponent of reggae, the media reported today.

According to The Jamaica Observer, the shooting of the biopic ‘Rebels’ will begin in the first quarter of the year in Antigua and Barbuda with unreleased material.

The film will focus on the relationship of the singer with his representative Danny Sims and his colleague Johnny Nash, besides showing his rise in the world of music with the band The Wailing Wailers.

In the production of this project also will be involved the Canadian Don Allan and the American Neil Sacker, while the government of Antigua and Barbuda will provide much of the funds.

Rebels will be the first work by Golden Island Filmworks, a production company recently created by Langlais in order to boost the film development of the Caribbean.

Langlais’ professional career include Hurricane Carter (1999) starred by Denzel Washington, and Sugar Hill (1994), starred by Wesley Snipes.

This film will be a new addition to the materials and initiatives, which honor the legacy of Marley (1945-1981), whose songs have transcended due to their high social commitment.
